WebYou can get a 'Soul Vessel' very early in DS2 which allows you to reallocate any stats you've invested back to the base-stats of your starting class, so if you feel the need to dump points to get through the early game but then feel the souls were wasted later, you can fix that. Just remember you don't have infinite respecs.

The choices made in picking a starting class depend on whatever build you have planned for that specific character, and really THAT doesn't even matter too much unless you're crazy about optimizing your builds. WebPyromancer is actually a great choice for starting IMO. Pyromancy is very powerful, very effective against most bosses in the game, and it also doesn't scale with any attributes. The damage scales from the item you cast it with (The "Pyromancy Flame" which you must equip).
